Been mucking around with LEGO a lot lately, I recently got "The unofficial LEGO builders Guide" and so far it's been really good. It's got a lot of handy building techniques and ideas that really got me thinking about the maths, since I'm starting to build large LEGO bricks made out of LEGO :D
In the book it teaches you how to make the basics and leaves it for you to create more :D that I really like about the book.

Just before the part on humongous bricks there's a section on mini-land figures and it gave you ideas how to build them... so I thought about Mario and mini big land and decided to create a giant mini-land dude x4 scale, that sorta looks like Mario.

I modified the hands, looks cool and they can now grab stuff.

The Tale of the Scurvy Raider

OK, you know what? Typing Pirate is hard.

Back when I was working at Lucasfilm, I used to have a giant Lego pirate ship. It sat across from my desk on this low end table and when the nights would grow long and the work day became tiring I would look over at the Scruvy Raider and it would remind me of what we were building; it would remind me of the soul of this game called Monkey Island.

When I left Lucasfilm the Lego pirate ship mysteriously disappeared. I remember cleaning out my office and saying my goodbyes then noticing the Lego pirate ship was gone. I asked around but no one knew what happened to it. It was simply gone, lost at sea, never to be seen again...

...until...

A few days ago when a giant package arrive at my door step. I carefully opened it to find this inside:

Attached to it was a note scribbled on LucasArts stationary that simply said "We found your pirate ship".

Thanks Guys!!!

The Scurvy Raider II has come home, sailing into port for a reunion that onlookers called teary-eyed and joyful. It will once again become a beacon of light into the soul of what we are making.

Sup, I'm still alive.
Haven't been here for a while, so I though I might do an Update.

I'm currently working full time as an Apprentice Chef so I've been really busy.
In my spare time I've been thinking of designing T-shirts/Jumpers and I've also been planing of making a new LEGO comic based on the SpacePolice line.

With the T-shirts/Jumpers I plan to use the same Decals that minifigs use :) How awesome is that!
Here's one that I've done so far, with the help from my friend teh_Shane doing vectors.

But yeah, Since I've got money rolling in I plan to make quite a heap. This is going to be fun :)

Oh yeah, sadly www.wookiee.co.nr is soon to be shut down I believe.
Google pages is soon to be moving and it's going to kill my site, so they say. The new site system doesn't support editing of the HTML so ... there goes all my work ah :( oh well it was good while it lasted, and I got over 3k views I think, so it had a good life. R.I.P

Crayon Physics Deluxe

I can't believe I missed the release...
CPD was available to buy and download 3 days ago and all I've been doing these past few days is waiting around for my bike to be fixed, aka doing nothing.

The website design is very well made IMO, I love it.

I'm downloading now and I'll get back to Blogger after I get out of the crayon hole it will put me in (maybe a few days)

After playing the DEMO for a while it reminds me much of the beta, it's basically the same thing but with more music and a very cool level map that you can draw on, and the physics are very well updated with a load more that you can draw and do with.

Another thing is that the game comes with an inbuilt level editor (the old BETA you had to use another program itself and it was quite tricky)
This editor is quite good, it's easy and quick to make levels and you can play them on the spot.

The game itself is wonderful, full of bright colours and all the things I hoped for.
Even though it felt like only one step up from the beta it's worth the time and spare change.

Things I didn't really like was how the menu didn't tie into the theme of crayons and the rest of the game (still it was awesome) and how you can't zoom past levels you've already completed, you have to move one by one across the map like a board game.

Sierra server shutdown

After watching Predator 1 for about the 100th time I remembered the good old game AVP/2 and how fun it was back in the day, so after 30 minutes of searching for it in my old games pile and 5 minutes of installing it and updating when I tried to look for multilayer games I got nothing.

Thinking it was my own fault with firewall/dodgy IP setup that I had to do for the last LAN I was at, but after finally giving up and googling to see if anyone else had these errors... and sadly I didn't find any good news.

Sierra has officialy shut down AVP's online server in November 2008 and another 20 great old games with it.
I can't see why D:

The online multiplayer was kickass, I remember playing it non stop.

EDIT: after looking around in forums a team of legends have released a patch worthy of the gods. http://www.lithfaq.com/forums/portal.php?article=2
It makes it so you can see servers and such, so I'm installing it now and I can only hope.

Aiight, I've got to that point of being bored today, so I googled a ton of crap to try and find myself something to do, while doing so I came across a program called "Phun" I recall Shane showing me a earlier version about a year back and I quite liked it, but sadly back then my computer couldn't handle it... but now :D

Phun is a free game like 2D physics sandbox where you can play with physics like never before. The playful synergy of science and art is novel, and makes Phun as educational as it is entertaining.

So after playing around for an odd 5 mins I figured out how to make a simple car but I was unhappy at the control method, since it reminded me of Garrys mod back in the day with the simple cars how wheels are moving by them selfs.

So I set out to try and make a more, better and phun way of making a car.

And I kinda failed, I still couldn't think up a plan to make a moving car without wheels that moved by them selfs or a keypress. so I ended up making this....

I'll post more pictures of stuff I make when I get better, but for now... back to the drawing bored.

There's one spelling mistake thanks for Destiny for telling me of it ;) the main ork says "bequite you" while he is ment to say "Bequiet you" but meh.

New bike helmet and bike lights

I got a new motorbike helmet the other day for $400

It's epic looking and fits perfict.

Now all I need now is a new bike.

On the 4th of November I turned 18! woot.

I had a great day, woke up and put on my fancy suit and top hat and just walked around all day looking snazzy, went to the pub and got a nice meal then headed out to a mates place and had a bbq,
I also brought a new lego set (set me back around $100) it's the new Castle 7048, a cool 51cm ship filled with orks and such, also came with a dragon, I'll get some pictures up here soon.

But yeah, I'm now 18!!! yay.

I've got a lot of posts to do, and a few new comics and update my site heeps, but for now I'm quite sleepy, I didn't go to bed untill 1 last night, I was up all night building the 7048 ;P

FarCry 2

I played FarCry 1 quite a bit, but in my aspects it's the same deal as Crysis,

It had epic graphics for it's time, you get stuck on some random island and you have to go around cutting koreans up but when it just seems to be getting boreing they stick aliens and other weird creatures in to try and spice things up, but really just making the game worse.

I got FarCry 2 the other day, and let me say this "...it's epic"

I've got everything set to max and it runs at an average frames of 40 -50fps and it looks quite good.

The graphics arn't Crysis but hell they are close to it and it runs a lot better, but they are still pretty dam good and gameplay is even better,

think CounterStrike:S mixed with battlefield 2 then add a few bits of Crysis and you'll get Farcry2's gameplay

You're in Africa and you go around blowing up Africans/buffalo and doing jobs for people.

There are no silly monsters what so ever, all of it is realistic, and that being one of the coolest things to gaming to date, is that when you get hit by a bullet you have to pull it out to regain health, if you fall from a ledge you'll have to snap your leg/arm/fingers back into place, and if you get hit by a grenade you'll have to pull the shrapnel out. This is by far the coolest health system to date :D

What's also friggen epic is that there's real fire in the the game, if you use a flamethrower on the grass it will come alight and spreed like butter, burning up everything in it's parth.

Now what also really shines in FarCry 2 is multiplayer, it's too god dam fun. (LAN'ing that is, online servers are quite slow and weird)

But after playing through all maps I desided to take on the Map editor and create my own.

For some strange reason google doesn't want to upload them for me, so you'll just have to wait for a bit.

I got a reply for it "... Needs more background"

So I made a simple comic that included TF2 and Racers TF2 Rife, at the time (that being 4 in the morning) I couldn't think of anything good so I just made a simple little shoot out type scenario.

This was the first time I've merged two games into one Gamic, and I quite like the overall effect of doing so, you might see more of this in the future.

Just made a few little updates and fix's to D.U.C.K

As you can see there's been quite a few changes, and something that you can't see is that I've added a little sound track, one that I've made in FruityLoops.

So there's been a few graphics updates here and there such as being able to turn and look behind you, and also things such as a fade in effect while going into menus.

D.U.C.K is a small little platform game that I'm working on.

You control a LEGO duck through a surrealist world of LEGO bricks collecting cookiee's and running away from the cookiee monster (BL.us Fads) at first things seem normal but the more you advance the more things become weirder and of course harder.

I've been quite sick lately and have been in bed for a few days, though during this time I've put my act togther and started finishing off my site. http://www.wookiee.co.nr

Added a Oblivion Comic/Gamic section and put in one of my unfinished work in there.

It's finally out, all week end I've been playing this game non stop, It's truly epic.

For you who remember my CreatureCreator post; Spore is a epic game where you create your own little guy, and now you can put him out into a chosen world and be let loose.

First up you have to choose what type of eating habit your creature will be, I chose Herbivore since I'm not really into raw meat.

From then on there's a movie clip of a asteroid flying around in space and then smashes into a planet (the one you choose)

There's little tiny micro alien organisms on the asteroid and they get flung into sea, you control one of them.

Your goal at this point as simple, Eat. After having a few snacks you start to grow and grow untill you start seeing large shapes that end up being other sea animals that want to eat you, so you swim away and eat other smaller things untill you get biger and eat them, so that goes on and on untill you get so big you can go on land and gain a brain, legs and arms.

So after getting legs/arms you walk around make make friends and finding new things to increase your intelligence and therefor be able to evolve.

Here's my race at the moment.

The race is called "Herby's" lol, since they are kind hearted people and only eat apples, if some meat eating scum tries to get hold of them, they simply jump up and can fly away.

What truely makes this game epic is that you can advance so much into evolution you end up having civilizations with cars and space ships and even fly to other planets, I'm yet to even build a house.

That's what my race looks now (after a day or two playing)

New Comic Page

On www.wookiee.co.nr I've been updating a lot, adding new features and such, but it's still in a minor lock down due to testing purposes.
But last night I got to work on designing my "Game Comics" page, here you'll find all the comics I've made with games and such (they are also call Gamics, but I think that sounds weird so I'll stick with Game Comics or something else if it sounds cool)

Turok PC

Now, I've always been into the Turok series since the n64.A few days ago I heard there was a new one out for PC so I googled it to find more about it.
This is what people thought:

"...Crap game, shitty graphics shitty game play"

"...To hard, couldn't get passed the first boss"

"... where's all the weapons?"

Now, from feeling quite disappointed from what people where saying about the new Turok I wasn't going to buy it, but then...

I was watching some Stargate the other day, and Teal'c said a funny joke, that I forgot and couldn't remember what episode it was in, so I googled "Teal'c jokes" that came up with a wiki on Teal'c himself and all his epic quotes, after a good read I read more about him and what other movies/games he is in ... and guess what! he's in bloody Turok. A big black man with a chaingun, who could miss that? so I ran out and broght it for $90 at our new game store "game traders"

Now... after just finishing Turok I'd have to say.
It's awesome.

No really, I can't see why people baged it out so much, maybe because they are just shit at games, but I didn't find it all too hard, sure I got riped apart by the final T-rex about 30 times but that didn't stop me.

I think it was the zest of running behind raptors and pulling out my knife, stabing it in the head then sit back and watch it roll around in its own blood then slowly go still, or the times I've sneeked passed a few dinosaws only to see a guy with a minigun, quickly I sneek back into the bushes and grab my bow, slowy peek out of the grass and lay my crosshair over his head, it's rare but turok says with a wisper "... I see you" at that moment I let go of the string and WHAP, the arrow goes into this guys head and sends him flying back and sticks him into a tree, These are what makes Turok epic, the gameplay.

Graphics: the textures are horrable at some parts of this game, but in others it's breath taking, the shadows could've been more better but overall it's a nice looking game (in most area's)
The dinosaws where epic and really well animated, they moved around lifelike and even had brains the size of a peanut.

...and finaly it was glitchy, I'm an adventurer and I like to jump around and find hidden areas, so I got stuck a lot, randomly die in places and I found quite a bit of holes to nowhere. There where also times when my fellow compainions said the same line about 3 or 4 times to me.

But yeah, over all I loved this game, and I would say ".. fuck those E-Tard graphics hogs, go for the gameplay" because really Turok is a great game.

Robot Chicken: Calven and Hobbes

My mother showed me the comic books of "Calven and Hobbes" a few years back and I absolutely loved them, today after randomly watching some Robot Chicken episodes I came across this... and I laughed so hard.

It's so epic, they show Calven in a little more traumatic perspective. This is a parody! meaning they are screwing things up, now from reading a lot of comments around the web I'm amazed on how many people reallly really disliked this flick, I think they thought it was going to be normal or something . Personally I think it's really well thought up of and created. But remember a parody! ;P

New graffiti pressure pack

Today I ran out of my normal dull black spray paint, it had started to spray little blobs all over the place so I needed to grab a new one, on my journey I came across a new (?) brand of pressure pack, one that I've not seen around these parts before.

It's MADE for graffiti and also has a cool street art look to it, what also is very cool is that there's a ring of colour around the can itself so it's colour is easily identifiable ALSO what is also neat about it is that it comes with all types of nozzles (has a nozzle just for stenciling), so you can change the type for the occasion.
Sadly one bad thing about it is of course the price, all up for one it cost me $15 (normally one normal "AKA shit" pressure pack would cost me only 2-3 AUS dollers)
But this is well worth the money.

As said there, a set of journalists had set out to find Banksy's true identity.
And maybe... they did.

"Our search began with a photograph taken in Jamaica showing a man in a blue shirt and jeans, with a hint of a smile on his face and a spray can at his feet.

Taken four years ago, it was said to show Banksy at work."

But later on in the article they found out that the guy in this photo is "Robin Gunningham" and is lead to believe that it is the graffiti artist Banksy.

At first I didn't believe it was him, but after reading all the article I now think it is indeed Banksy. There's a lot of things that link to this guy. But still it's not %100 confirmed.

So after waiting a LONG time to download this I finally got to play it and there's one word I'd describe this game...

Banksy's "Wall and Piece"

After being into graffiti for a while now, Banksy's work is my inspiration.
Daria, who is a great friend of mine showed me his art at school awhile back and from then I've been hooked into spay painting (or any other fancy term teh_Shane would call it ^^)

A few nights ago Shane showed me a book about Banksy that contains loads of his work and inspirations all in colour, so today I caught the bus and went into town in search for this book, our local book store "Book city" did not contain such a book, nor any books that contain graffiti at all.

But I soon found a store that had quite a few books on graffiti "Angus and robinson" (sounds nothing like a book store's name) and from there I bought "Wall and Piece" for a hefty $40 AUS dollars but it was well worth it.

Here's a "cut and paste" text about Basksy if you don't know of him. Written by Yashen Moodley.

Robert Banks, commonly known as Banksy, is a British graffiti artist known for his controversial art work. The themes of politics, popular culture and ethics are evident in his work, each of which has a very satirical innuendo attached to them.

Banksy’s style of ‘vandalism’ is a combination of graffiti and a distinctive stencilling method which is taken from the late 1970’s Parisian stencil artist Blek le Rat, which has appeared in a number of cities world wide. Some of his works have blatant intertextual references, such as an image of the two characters from Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction holding hand guns, but instead the guns are replaced by bananas. Other images include the stencilled image of two British policemen embracing in a passionate kiss. For years the identity of Banksy was not known as it was only recently that a journalist from Guardian Unlimited was able to have a face to face interview with the graffiti artist. Banksy showed how dedicated he is to alternative art when he walked into Le Louvre in Paris and hung up one of his paintings which resembled the Mona Lisa, but with a yellow smiley face over the face of the Mona Lisa. New Layout

So I got to work today on a new layout, I needed something more unique so I came up with this...It needs a lot more work but I see it having potential.

One thing I need to add is a border for this content box, like a soft glow fading into the background, I've made some trials but it keeps mucking up with the background code :/
And one problem so far is the background image not staying on the bottom when you re-size the links to the right, I'll try and fix that asap.

But anyhow for the new layout I also made a small random comic ^_^"
Now I feel like making some more. I will make a proper one soon (not just 2 box's)

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Today after school I went and watched the new Indiana Jones movie "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" on it's 1st day of release.
I loved it and enjoyed about %95 of it, Though I had to block out some very badly thought up scenes.

The 1st part I didn't like was how the ants climbed up on each other to bite that french chick, though I don't know if they can do that in real life, I just saw it to be a tad out of place.
And the 2nd part was when they drove off the cliff and landed on a tree branch that supported them on the way down.

There is one other, Though if I'd say it, It'll ruin the "story line" for some people. But it's the main part at the end how the **** are in it, should of been less 'star wars' like ^^ (now I've got you thinking)

Overall I loved it.
But please... Don't make any Indiana Jr Jr movies, or what ever that kids name was, end it with hansolo.

Blockland Fix

Allrighty,
I've figured out how to make Blockland (both v8, 1.045 and TBM) work on Vista 64bit (and 32?)
All you have to do is change the theme to windows classic for the time being, preferably only when your playing due to it's bloody ugly lol.

But yeah. This fixed my problem that I was getting, if not run blockland with admin priv and that should fix it... If not then I'm sorry, lol.

So I'm back from a great trip to Melborne.

If you didn't know I've been away on a journey to buy a new computer.

And that if you didn't know even more that my old one died.

It's quite a good rig and I'm very happy with it ^_^

The only problemo I've had so far is that I can't play good old BL 1.45 =(
sp1 for 64bit is known to be able to run most stuff, but so it seems blockland it cannot.
But it can run Crysis all on max high so I'm happy for the time being.

Yesterday went all as planed,
I went in and sat my drivers test and ...

I got 97% or something, so I'm happy. but the real draw back is because I didn't get them WHEN I SHOULD'VE like... 2 years ago, Now I have to fill out this stupid "log book" it's really quite stupid.

What I have to do EACH time I go out for a drive:

- Write down how many minutes of driving I done (I have to do 7200 all up)
- The time I drove to the time I stopped
- How many kilometers I've done
- How fast I drove
- What was the speedometa thingo at the start and the finish
- If I drove at night day or... "midday"
- Was it sunny, wet? or dry
-Who was in the car
- Where did I drive and what roads I take
-What type of roads did I drive on

... do they fucking want to know what clothes I was wearing.

No but seriously, that with 120 hours of driving is WAY to much... I just want to drive, now half of that time will be just writing all this stuff down.
But this all comes back to me and my laziness, got dam I wish I can turn back time.
Now I have to do all of this.

My fault.... and in the end I will be a better driver... But 120 hours ;(

Anyhow, I'll stop my negativism and get onto something more positive... and right now I can't think of anything. so I'll leave that for another post.

Today for me was an okay day, I got a hair cut and now look snazzy. I'll post some pictures soon. Tomorrow is a dreaded day as I'm going out to get my car license and I think I haven't read the book over a hundred times like I feel I should do.

Welcome to my new blog.

But as for now I'll be using this as my new blog because;

- Easy editing
- Makes my GPC more clean
- Archiving (I will import my old blog into here)
- Nice CSS, Also I'll be able to create my own (TBD)
- Looks more pro
- Can't really think of anything else

So I'll be using this for now on because of those reasons.
Manly just to keep things clean, as my GP has become clogged.

But enough of the boring stuff. Now onto the Blogging:

For those who know me as 'Wookiee' might be saying "Where has he gone?"
as I've been offline for a week or two due to having network problems and random crashes in the first week and now I can't start up my computer due to a missing file that is so called "important" aka; My HDD was fried.

Lucky I've got a spare 1.5k that will be used for a new eleet computer that I'll be getting in the next few weeks, and I hope I'll be able to save my VERY importent files from my old one.

So, I'm sorry to the BlocklandCentral community and mostly to Zack and Aron for disappearing with no word whatsoever.
Sadly IRC isn't obtainable atm so I couldn't contact you.
But a new hope has arisen with my new computer coming up soon.

Right now I'm at a mates place, and I'm yet to check out BLC,
As for now I'll stop typing for a bit, add a link to this updated blog on my website then head off.

I have not updated/posted much lately

I've been busy a lot with school

But I'll make a quick post now.

The other day I went to the movies with a good friend of mine and

saw the new steven king movie "the mist"

THIS IS A GOOD FILM

Sure the actors weren't that good, nor was the effects/graphics

but the story line and ending made the film epic.

The ending is the ice of the cake and made me feel very sad.

I wont say anything as you HAVE to go see it, it's great.

Also I've been getting into making a small flash game.

Super Mario Galaxy

I got "Super Mario Galaxy" for my Wii the other day,

I had Pre-ordered from ElectronicB a few days before it came out so

I could play it as soon as possible, Now I don't know what really

happened but somehow I got it a day before the Australian release

date lol, There was a muck up a order to an old lady that had got

a special pre-order one and she didn't want it anymore, and I just

so happened to be 1st on the list and I got it :D

anyhow, I'm playing it now.

I have talked about Petri's blog and one of a few games he

has made before...found HERE

On of his games was Crayon Physics

It was a fun artistic game, but sadly ended short.

His site can be found HERE.

Recently on his blog he announced that he is making a new one!

Here is a quote from Petri that sums it all up. :D

Crayon Physics Deluxe is a sequel to the popular freeware game

Crayon Physics. Or you can think of it as the game I would have

created if I would have had more than 7 days to do it. Way more

than 7 days. More like 7 months or 17 months.

Changed the menu today, Just made it more funky looking.

It's a clone of the old Transport Tycoon Deluxe

But adds multilayer support and lots of goodies to make it last

I love games like this, Back in the day when gameplay was the

only thing that games could have.

Mike says:

I find it to be a very hard and boring game first off

But when you get to know how it works it becomes very fun.

Cortex Command

It's a fun mutiplayer game. Sadly its only playable on the one

computer(WASD, arrows, Game controller) But its quite fun.

Nothing much has been going on these past few days...

I'm going back to school and its quite shit, the boring old ways.

I put a counter on my page the other day (about 5days ago)

and I have reached about 50 hits so far lol,

And I haven't really advised it yet

It needs needs more content.

Been into making paper things lately, its real fun :D

You can see some of my tests that took me a few minutes to make in

the paper craft area, they are shitty but it will give you an idea

I'm getting allot better now, this might be a new hobby :D

Made a new Enter page thing today,

After a few hours of drawing cute little crayon things in adobe

I put them all together in flash and made a page with it

it was super cool... until I found out that it took up about 6meg lol

So firstly I degraded all the pictures and got it down to about

2-3meg but that is still bad (well on dial-up it is -_- )

So I scratched it and made the one you can see now, its allot

shitty then the first one... but still has its original design

The button took some time to make, I think its cool :D

But yeah, that is all that I done today because I woke up at 2

Right now I'm working on a new link flash system...

It will be my best work YET!!!

well...not really but I'm bored lol.

Crayon Physics

I have been sick the last couple of days and I got quite bored of just

playing Blockland and mucking around in flash all day so I got

into mindlessly browsing the web trying to find something new

and something that would entertain me for the next few minutes

And I stumbled across a site.

Its about a guy "Petri Purho" that makes games in under a week,

quite amazing I thought because mine take about a few months and

they still suck.

After reading most of his blog I found one of his games very unique

and entertaining.

Its called "CrayonPhysics"

Its simple, clean, music is perfect and has nice simple graphics which I love and is very fun to play.

The goal is to draw lines, squares and circles

to help a red ball get to the star.

I got into making levels for it and even grabbed a crayon and some

paper to draw my own backgrounds (I figured out I could do

all on my pc latter) I Will put some up soon. Also I will upload the

game itself as a full pack with user created levels and some of mine

Will be fun :D

After playing this game and lots of his others, (Pluto that I

also really liked) I fought that I might redo this site and make it all

look like it was drawn by a little girl with crayon, inspired by

Petri's wok. Will take some time, but I have nothing else to do :D

and GoogleP is a bitch to work with skins, So I might just make it

overlap and with allot of flash work.

This one still sets the scene so it should work out fine.

You should check out his blog soon because there will be new

games coming, and its a good inspiration for new game

makers such as myself.
